Italian Studio Carlo Ratti Associati (CRA) has revealed the one-mile high world’s tallest man-made vertical park and observation deck in Tokyo. This project called “The Mile” is popularly known as the “Piazza of the Sky” is 1609 metre high and beats the record of Burj Khalifa tower, Dubai which is 829.3 metres tall.

A vertical garden wraps around the shaft and would be home to diverse flora and fauna. The project will be officially presented to the public at MIPIM 2016, the world’s leading real estate fair in Cannes on March 16, 2016. This structure is lightweight and comprises 20 metre wide shaft with pre-stressed cables. Visitors can pay $40 and can ascend the structure via lift or capsule that leads to the skydeck with 360 degree panoramic views. The capsules will be equipped with open-air virtual reality screens, permitting an interaction with the 360-degree view over the landscape.
